Recently I met with Jen and Marcia (two members from our community) online to have a discussion about e-portfolios, Mahara and the platform foliofor.me. This was a really good discussion. Jen provided a whole of organisation approach, Marcia was fairly new to Mahara however she had some excellent insights into digital portfolios and how they could be created using software such as InDesign. I came into the conversation as a vocational trainer and shared my experiences with digital portfolios as a teacher and student attending university. Foliofor.me is Mahara hosted in the cloud. It is a free platform that requires the user to go through a simple sign up process. During the demonstrations it was revealed that an easy way to start your portfolio was to produce pages by theme and then add them to a collection. Mahara has social media like features so you can add friends (and delete them) and give them some access to your resources or all access depending on your needs. Mahara also includes a journal feature and project management tools to help you plan your project milestones and timelines. If you would like to view the recording please visit Mahara in the Cloud.
